The Thomas More Institute hosts a plethora of events throughout the academic year, from academic conferences to artist talks and book launches. Events are open to the public.

PAST EVENTS:

MARCH 25 – Dantedi
6:00 to 8:00 PM
3405 Atwater, Montreal

Did you know March 25th is Dantedi, Italy’s national “Dante Day”? On this annual celebration, readers and scholars in Italy and around the world pay tribute to the renowned author of The Divine Comedy. The Thomas More Institute invites you to explore fascinating topics, such as Dante’s use of language, and his themes of fallen angels, at a conference evening featuring talks by Dr. Dario Brancato and Matteo Soranzo. Celebrate Dantedi with us!

APRIL 29 – Sculpted Stories: Pre-Columbian History and Postcolonialism with Ceramics Artist Kimberly Orjuela
4:00 to 5:00 PM
3405 Atwater, Montreal

Inspired by both the Pre-Columbian traditions of her homeland and Postcolonial studies, Kimberly Orjuela has developed a unique body of sculpted works that have captivated audiences both nationally and internationally. Visiting us at the Thomas More Institute as a guest speaker for TMI’s Repatriation of Cultural Artifacts course, Orjuela will share her journey as an artist and how her practice seeks “to decolonize narratives, preserve and uplift [her] culture, and honor the earth by using organic processes”. Come enjoy an afternoon of art discussion!
